Ermira Zyrakja-Lefort, French and Albanian pianist, was born on 15th December 1964 in Albania. She undertook her piano studies aged six years old and went on her professional studies until graduating at the age of 23 with the Diploma of Pianist of the Academy for Fine Arts of the University of Tirana, Albania. Along her pianist studies, she carried out an intensive professional career from the age of 12, as a soloist as well as a concertist in different philharmonic and chamber music orchestras but also as an accompanist of other instrumentalists and classical singers. She won the First Prize of the National Piano Competition of Albania in 1979 aged 14. The Albanian television RTSH also recorded and transmitted several of her recitals. In 1987, she was first role actress in the movie EJA !, directed by Piro Milkani and produced by the National Movie Studios of Albania. After the opening of Albania in 1990, Ermira was piano teacher at the Tchakalow Academy in Ioannina (Greece), then pianist at the Opera School Esope in Geneva (Switzerland) and also free-lance piano tutor in Geneva, Chamalières (France) and Dublin (Ireland).
Since 1990, she has performed as a soloist, concertist and accompanist of classical singers in Greece, Switzerland, France, Ireland, the United-Kingdom, the USA and Cyprus. She is presently piano teacher at the Music Conservatory of Heraklion, (Greece).
In 1997 in Dublin, she recorded and produced a CD presenting 19 works for piano from Albanian composers. This first compact disc is for her the opportunity to make know the Albanian classical music which has always been warmly welcome by her West-European audience.
