Bienvenue
sur mon site! J'habite et travaille à
Barjols
dans le Var en Provence, près de
Brignoles.
Ses dispositions pour la peinture se
manifestèrent très tôt. A
l'âge de dix ans il brossait
déjà des sujets à l'huile, sur
des supports de fortune. Adolescent, son goût
pour la mise en scène de Cinéma
faillit le détourner des Arts
Plastiques.
vivantes. BAUGIER y puise l'enseignement des
Maîtres anciens et modernes approfondissant
leur technique, et sondant surtout les profondeurs
spirituelles et émotives de cet
art.
A
On
pense volontiers au paysagisme abstrait, qui
s'apparente à la vision aérienne du
territoire mais prenons garde que la photo
aérienne nous révèle les
linéaments fantomatiques des habitats celtes
ou gallo-romains, qui sourdent au travers du
patchwork des parcelles
cultivées.
L'abstraction,
question de l'acte créateur.
force vitale.
Ainsi
ses toiles se succèdent, sans jamais
être des duplicata. BAUGIER guette
constamment dans sa toile, l'opportunité de
son oeuvre prochaine.
On
feu latent sous le couvert général;
BAUGIER brûle sous ses glacis.

PRESENTATION
Welcome to my
home page! I live and work in a small village of
Provence called BARJOLS near Brignoles (Southern
FRANCE). For a better quality of paintings' colors,
please use Explorer or Netscape Screen

Marcel Baugier
is born in Barjols, where he lives and works at
present. He studied the art of modelling in Paris
from 1968 to 1971 and is currently teaching this
type of art in Nice.Marcel Baugier expresses the
impenetrable flashes everybody is exposed to:
imagination, euphoria on the verge of the hereafter
or of nothingness, eternal questioning about joy
and grief. He also wants to show the impalpable part
in us and sensitize it by awakening the mind. Not
forgetting to say a lot, suggesting even more.
Its provisions
for painting appeared very early. With the ten
years age it brushed already subjects with oil, on
supports of fortune. Teenager, his taste for the
setting in scene of Cinema failed to divert it
Visual arts.Painting, it really discovers it during
its Parisian studies, by the assiduous
frequentation of the Museums, (that of the Louvre
like that of Modern art), of the significant
exposures and the most alive Galleries. BAUGIER
draws there the teaching of the old and modern
Masters looking further into their technique, and
especially probing the spiritual and emotive depths
of this art. On this subject, it says readily: " to
the Louvre, I came to seek my daily food, to
extract with the pencil or the brush, the vital
gasoline of work, that which hides beyond
appearances. My way of interpreting the Masters
generally caused a smile mocker at the visitor who
would have liked there to find a work of faithful
copist ".
Marked by the
Primitive Italians, dazzled by the light of
Rembrandt and the Tower, conquered by the color of
Delacroix, it is impassioned for the composition of
Cézanne, the force of Picasso, the purity of
Matisse. Since 1971, from return in Provence, it
will devote ten years of work, faith, of search, to
forge an original technique and a personality. Long
period of gestation, hard, painful, where the doubt
and the spectrum of the Masters, haunt his creative
thought. According to the word of Delacroix "
nature is a dictionary ", it questions the hills,
the pines, the ground, which provide him the
elements of its compositions, assembled like hones
with stone, by reflected plans, in extreme cases of
the abstraction. They provide him also its coloured
material: for much the grounds, ochres and more or
less broken greens of the soil.
One readily
thinks of the abstracted paysagism, which is
connected with the air vision of the territory but
take guard that the air photograph reveals us the
ghostly features of the Celtic or Gallo-Roman
habitats, which sourdent through patchwork
cultivated pieces.
At the end of
this difficult course, specific to any sincere
pictorial step, takes shape, about 1981, a more
precise way, that of incipient maturity.
Consequently, this personality will continue of
work in work to approach a finer truth, without
never weighing down itself of a final technique: we
are with hundred miles of the high dishevelled
pastes, the splashes or giclures of the
expressionnists of any hair, who believe mimer thus
the exubérance of the vital force. Thus its
fabrics follow one another, without never being
duplicates. BAUGIER watches for constantly in its
fabric, the appropriateness sound opens next. One
will read in a fabric of BAUGIER, the vestiges of
his draft, appearing in pure hues, with the masked
dissonances, in the cracks spared between the last
plans posed: violence is here tapie like a latent
fire under cover General; BAUGIER burns under its
glacis.
